Ten Steps to Creating Goals

Hey Guys,
Now we are back from the muslim holiday.....i wish them a happy salah.

Now lets get on the job. We are talking about goals this week.
Now lets see ten steps to goal creating.....the do's and the dont's!

DO
Be sure that the goal you are setting is getting you the results you really want - walk it all the
way through
DON'T
Create a goal to get what you think you could or should have or a goal which comes up short
of the end results you want

Focus on what you could be doing
DON'T
Focus on what you should NOT be doing

Align with your strengths and resources and tendencies
DON'T
Align with your limitations and what you are lacking or missing or try to overcome yourself

Use exciting, inspirational words
DON'T
Use bland, boring words

DO
Make it specific.
DON'T
Make it vague.

Make it quantifiable, measurable

Determine by qualities, emotions, feelings.

What Attitude is not based on

Most people with bad attitudes usually point to something other than themselves to explain their problem.
Now you have learnt how to put your attitude in top shape.
But you must know that attitude is not based on:
  • Circumstances: you may not control wjat happens to you but you are completely responsible for your reaction to what happens to you.
  • Upbringing: the past is gone and outside your control. You are responsible for not allowing it to control you in the present.
  • Limitations: limitations should be guidelines not stop signs (e.g poor appearance, few opportunities, lack of talent, limited money e.t.c). They should direct you and guide your path on the journey. You need to learn to live with them. They should not prevent you from taking it.
  • Others: no one but you is responsible for the choices you make today.

What you'll do today determines who you'll be tommorrow.

Steps to take along the way

Now lets take a look practically how you can effect a change to your attitude:

How far can i go?
Answer these questions honestly on a piece of paper.
  • Which am i more likely to think and talk to others about? If the answer is "rights", what can i do to change that attitude?
  • Who is the most positive person i know? write his/her name on a paper. Make an appointment to talk to that person and ask what he or she does to remain positive.
  • Name some positive ways you can relieve stress, and schedule some time in the next week to do at least one of them.
  • During the next week, tell at least one person a funny story about something that you recently did wrong or an incident that made you look foolish. Enjoy the joke together. (If the person is a friend and looks shocked or uncomfortable, you may have a history of taking yourself too seriously)
  • Attitude Statement: write a positive attitude creed for yourself stating your intention to become a positive person. AND MEAN IT!!

We have finished the attitude lesson.....tomorrow, we will be looking at the signs of a bad attitude and more on application of your attitude in achieving your dreams. Next week we will be looking on goals and how to achieve them.

Guidelines for getting your Attitude in Shape

Hello Everyone and now we will be looking at how to get your attitude in top shape.
Use these guidelines below to change your attitude:
  • claim responsibilities not rights: continually fighting for your rights can make you resentful, angry, hateful and bitter. When you stop worrying about your rights, you turn your focus in the right direction and you can move forward on the journey. You recognize the wrongs but you forgive them and focus on what you can control--your responsibilities and doing this increases your energy, builds potential and improves your prospects.
  • associate with positive people: this is mostly important. Who you spend your time with especially influences your attitude.
  • make the present moment (today) your happiest: When you give your attention to what's happening at the moment and try to have a positive attitude about it, you open yourself up to all possibilities that the present holds.
  • find ways to relieve stress: This is where most people never pay attention to. Find positive ways to relieve stress in your life. What you do is not important as long as it relieves stress and has a positive impact on your thinking and health.
  • don't take yourself too seriously: One of my watchword is humility, but if your job is important and should be taken seriously that doesn't mean you should take yourself too seriously. You'll go farther in life and have a better time doing it if you maintain a sense of humour especially when it comes to yourself.
  • take action to change your attitude: If you want to change your attitude, start with a change in behaviour and the right time is NOW not tommorrow. In other words begin to act the part as well as you can of the person you would rather, the person you most want to become. Gradually the old fearful person will fade away. You have to act yourself into changing-chage requires action-don't wait until you feel like it to change attitude.

Act now and be the better person you dreamed of. Nothing is impossible for you as long as you dream of it and plan to put it into action..............

Seven signs of a great attitude

Now lets get on to the main topic:
We have learnt what attitude means now lets see the signs of a great attitude.

You need to know that:
  • A dream without a positive attitude produces a daydreamer
  • A positive attitude without a dream produces a pleasant person who can't progress
  • A dream together with a positive attitude produces a person with unlimited possibilities and potential.

You need both (dream and positive attitude) to go far in the right direction.

Now the signs of a great attitude are:

  • Belief in self: When you believe in yourself, you're free to focus on improving yourself and reaching your potential.
  • Willingness to see the best in others: This is important because if you treat people positively they tend to treat you the same way.If you expect anyone to get the job done and you show your confidence in them, it's easy not to take their behaviour personally because you know you have done your best and you can move on without letting it affect your attitude.
  • Ability to see opportunity everywhere: opportunities are not based on luck or position, they are result of right attitude. Opportunity exists where you find it.
  • Focus on solutions: positive people maintain a solution mindset, seeing a solution in every problem and a possibility in every impossibility.
  • Desire to give: They are rarely negative people. They are also rarely negative people. Giving is the highest level of living. The more you give, the better your attitude.
  • Persistence: Wen you believe everything turns out for the best you don't mind a little discomfort. And when everything goes haywire you remain persistent if you have a positive attitude after all you believe help is on the way.
  • Responsibility for their lives: A successful person understands that nothing positive happens until he/she is willing to step forward and take full responsibility for his/her thoughts and actions. Then they can look at theirself honestly, assess their strengths and weakness and begin to change.

Remember, its not what happens to you that matters but what happens in you.....

First Lesson: Your Attitude

Shaping your Attitude:

Attitude matters alot in the success journey. At the work place, at school or even in your family, your attitude matters. Its not fake attitude when you are modelling or something of sort, i mean real life attitude. You can get sacked from work, loose best friends, earn disrespect, and more negative impact if you dont build up your attitude. If you desire to make your dreams a reality, then you have to shapen your attitude........
do you feel negative all the time? are you often pessimistic? you can't get things done?....... that's attitude problem.....
To get your attitude in top shape, be positive all the time. See potentials even in the dumbest human being or thing. Shrug off pride---it kills.... Think how you got to this world, about your parents care, and God's care and your blessings....hmm...now you know what humility is.
Always smile, affirm most people you meet and stay true to yourself.
